Weekends are something that I think most of us can agree, are precious. After long work weeks, when that Friday at 5 pm hits, we are all ready to relax and unwind for that Friday to Sunday feeling. After earning your weekend, the worst thing you can do is fill it with too much of anything - too many plans (NO!), too many chores (BIG NO!) and of course too many errands (WELL, YOU GUESSED IT, NO AGAIN).

Now we all have our own things that we enjoy doing on the weekend, so obviously you will have to adapt your weekend plans to what you enjoy. Additionally, we are probably not going to get away with doing no chores or errands on the weekends, because sometimes getting stuff done on Saturday and Sunday is a good way to create less stressful weekdays. What I hope to give you are just some of my cardinal rules (which sometimes get broken) that can help guide you in the direction of having a less cluttered weekend.

Unless it is necessary, going out on one night of the weekend is enough

Remember, I said typically not always for this one, but I try as much as humanly possible not to have plans on both nights of the weekend. Resting and relaxing and staying in for one of these precious nights can really recharge us after busy weeks. Of course during holiday time and other circumstances it is not always possible, but remember it is important to have some down time on the weekends as well as “up” time!

This one is important - make the things you love a priority

I say this knowing that we all have to things we don’t necessarily want to - like unload the dishwasher or do loads of laundry, but don’t let these define your weekend - fill it with joyful things as well - a stroll in the market, some wine with a friend, or even a fun dinner out! You fill in the blanks but make sure to fill your own personal fun bucket also.

I hope this inspires you to have not only productive weekends which can essentially declutter your week, but also have some fun!!
