Your kitchen is the heart of your home—but when drawers are jammed with utensils, cabinets are bursting with mismatched plates, and countertops are crowded with unused appliances, that heart can start to feel a little... chaotic.

This week, we’re focusing on decluttering the bigger stuff: cutlery, plates, and small appliances. Let’s create a kitchen that works for you, not against you.

🍴 Cutlery: Do You Really Need 40 Forks?

  • Assess your needs: Keep enough for your household + guests (usually 8-12 of each piece is plenty).

  • Check for duplicates & damaged items: Toss bent forks, rusty knives, or anything missing a pair.

  • Organize smarter: Use drawer trays or dividers. Group by type to avoid the daily scavenger hunt.

I always do this declutter or culling with the premise that less is more. Having overflowing or stuffed cabinets and cupboards makes everything more difficult so just keep what you really need.

🍽 Plates, Bowls, Cups & Glasses: A Matching Set Wins Every Time

  • Match your lifestyle: If you’re a household of 2 but have dinnerware for 20, it’s time to scale back.

  • Donate mismatched extras: That random snowman plate from 2006? Pass it on.

  • Stack and store: Keep everyday dishes easy to reach, and reserve space for occasional-use items.

🔌 Small Appliances: Keep Only What You Actually Use

  • Evaluate by frequency: Haven’t used that waffle maker in 2 years? It’s not essential.

  • Multi-function = gold: Consider donating appliances that duplicate functions (do you need both a blender and a smoothie maker?).

  • Store with purpose: Daily-use items can stay on the counter. Others? Tuck them away—or better yet, let them go.

Bonus Tip:✨ Keep a donation box nearby as you declutter. It’s easier to let go when you know things are going to a good home.

Bottom Line:You don’t need a Pinterest-perfect kitchen. You just need a space that makes cooking, eating, and living easier. Decluttering can give you that—one drawer, one cabinet, one decision at a time.
